Davy Jones had to do because he couldnt bear the pain Tia treason Dalmas caused. So it Put them in a safe correct? Well, why not Will Turner needs his heart cut out and placed in a box? Will was dying. not that he cut his heart, he opened the box and killed inside Davey Jones. The curse, is that whoever killed Davey Jones heart in the box had to replace it with theirs. If it does not, he would have died. It was a choice die or live on the Flying Dutchman for the remainder of his life and see Elizabeth once IN10 years instead of never. It may not make the most sense, but at least he would see another time, and he would have time with his father and he could not save his father, something he swore he would do. Not the happiest of endings.
