Out of curiosity, anyone know if the coca plants or seeds is illegal in the U.S.?

I read the "tea coca "Recently, I came across a website / shop here in the U.S., which sells tea and coca leaves. I was wondering if people can simply grow the plants for themselves at home and enjoy their good old coca tea without having to continuously buy the leaves when they are exhausted. Also, it is illegal to have seeds and leaves or plants, then what makes the leaves sold online legal?

Coca is regulated in the United States as a Schedule II drug. You can grow at home illegally, although your tea will most likely cocaine very slightly from that used in Peru and Bolivia. The plant must be exposed to the climate of origin to produce a significant amount alkaloids for which she is famous. Although consumption of coca tea is often harmless, it will give you positive drug test for cocaine. If you order online, check the credentials of the seller. If the exporter is not fully certified you could be prosecuted as an importer of illegal goods. On a real note, most people in the United States probably could not recognize coca plant, if one was in front of them. If you can grow, it will probably be better than de-cocainized sheets available for import that tea. Laws can be read on both Wikipedia and Erowid. How you are sued vary from one state (in the USA).
